Hobby Classes

Summer camp gets dedicated to Football for both the kids.

Its 2 years since Om started under Sensei Keerthi with Karate classes. He's now a green belt and I think its only now that he's serious about it. And Ahana got to choose her instrument- Keyboard, under Mr. Edmund Sundar from Edmund Music Fine Arts. She's done with her 1st level of Theory exam from Trinity School of Music, awaiting her results and getting ready for 2nd level theory this year.

He's also been put into Dance classes at Natyalaya . And just to give him an intro into music enrolled him to music classes under Vidushi Rama K Murthy this year. Ahana's been learning under her for the last 3-4years now. This year she gets ready for Junior examination.

Drawing continues to remain for both the kids. Last year since the timing of Camlin art classes clashed with music class, I had to move Ahana from there to Mrs.Prabha, who stays close to our house. Om also has been put under her. And both seem to be enjoying their classes. And the best part is there is no dependency on me for pick up & drops.

Abacus at U C MAS begins for Om with Mr. Satish. So far so good, speed in simple maths has improved. Ahana stopped with 7th term, but continues to visit the classes just to stay in touch and lose speed.

Providing all the exposure possible...who knows what will catch their interest.

1st & 6th

1st std seems to be throwing a lot of challenges at my young one.

English is a struggle. Teaching him how to form spellings and how to read words is a test of patience. Boy is smart, hence uses phonics as he has been taught, but English being a funny language puts him through a tough test. Like a “Rough” would be read by him as ro-u-ga-h, coz G says ga according to phonics. Explaining why its TOE and not To and its EAR and not Eyar…ufff!!! I need to learn to teach!

Maths showing some improvement with Abacus training. He’s picked up speed in simple addition & subtraction and getting ready for state level abacus exam to be held in august.

Every evening we spend time together doing homework, then 1 page of abacus, then 2 pages of English Olympiad.

Baby is on her own now. She only needs my presence for studying.Maths continues with silly mistakes, she will be careful next time I know.

Appaji is off on biking tour to Leh Ladakh for 13 days and kids have their 1st assessment starting from the 6th. Am prepared to go crazy managing the show at home :-D

Both the kids wait for me to be home and are very happy if they find me home when they are back from school. So I shall try to keep it that way as much as possible :)
