On the day of Ugadi- April 14th, Daughter & I were on our way to my mum's place for Ugadi dinner. Her dad & granny were to come home later. We were half way to the house, and daughter comments, "amma if someone meets with an accident, we will help them, we will call for an ambulance". And I just asked her not to talk like that. Told her no one should meet with an accident. After which we moved on to talking about other things that were moving on the road.
Mum had prepared special dinner for us-- Carrot-Orange Pulav made with Coconut milk, Raita, Rice & Rasam, Kaju katli, Dahi wada & Bread-Custard Pudding. We finished up with the dinner and started back home around 10.30 in the night.
We had just reached the end of the road, when we saw a man lying on the road..shivering. Luckily people had already gathered around him, checking his belongings. It turned out, he had a medical card which stated that he had severe trouble of getting fits and was carrying some medicines with me. With a little bit of consciousness he managed to tell that he needed those medicines. The moment the medication was given, he told that he was hungry. Someone helped him with water. My husband came back and checked if we had anything to eat with us. It was that I had carried some Dahi wadas with me. We gave the whole box to that man and started back home.
There was silence in the Car, each of us in our on thoughts and suddenly daughter announced, “amma, didn’t I tell you, that we will help if someone meets with an accident”.
